Getting Started

If you are not familiar with leveling and how PSOP can shorten schedules while decreasing resource over-allocation, read the PSOP Overview first.

The getting started pages use the McDonnell Douglas Airplane Wing example project that was shipped with PSOP. If you have not already done so, import the wing.xer file found in the example subdirectory of your PSOP installation (by default this is C:\Program Files\PSOP 1.3\Examples\wing.xer). The wing project is a real project that McDonnell Douglas made publicly available for research purposes. The goal is to build an airplane wing as quickly and with as little overload as possible. The wing.xer file has already been leveled with Primavera using the default leveling options.

Running PSOP involves the following steps:
  1. Starting PSOP
  2. Selecting a project to level
  3. Selecting leveling options
  4. Leveling the project
  5. Reviewing the results
    1. The Compare Usage Profiles tab
    2. The Compare Start Times tab
    3. The Compare Overload tab
  6. Exporting the new schedule back to Primavera
