Installation
PSOP can be installed with Primavera P3e versions 4.1 or 5.0. For P3e version 4.1, P3e
must be installed in a client/server configuration; PSOP will not work with a stand-alone
installation. For P3e version 5.0, PSOP will work with either a stand-alone or client/server installation.
To complete the installation of PSOP, read the section on the P3e Job
Service and the section corresponding to your version of P3e below.
On Time Systems is happy to provide free installation
support. On Time Systems may be contacted via email at

The P3e job service component
It is necessary to have the job service component of P3e installed and
running. If you have a client/server installation of P3e, there can be
only one instance of the Job Service component installed on the
network unless the distributed job service is installed. In this case, the job service component will generally be
installed on the database server, but it can be installed on any
machine that has reliable network access to the database server. If you
have a stand-alone installation of P3e, then the job service component
must be installed on the computer where P3e is installed. In either
case, refer to the P3e Administrator's Guide for instructions on
installing the job service.
It is not our intention to replace the Primavera documentation on this,
which is fairly intricate and should be viewed as authoritative. Here
is a summary: Don't install job services if you or your Primavera
network administrator has already installed it on another machine. If
you aren't sure, you can skip this step because PSOP will detect that
job services isn't responding, and you can deal with it then. If you do
want to install job services now, the installer is on the Primavera CD.
Installing for P3e version 4.1
- Ensure that the job service component is installed and running.
- PSOP requires the P3e Integration API. This component can be installed
from the P3e CD by following Primavera's installation instructions. If
Primavera's Claim Digger is installed, the Integration API is also installed.
- When the PSOP installer is running, you will be prompted for the
location of the Integration API or the location of your Claim Digger
installation. You may also be prompted for the location of the Java
virtual machine (JRE). The PSOP installer will show you the default paths to
these components; if that is where you installed them, just confirm the
information presented.
- Once the Integration API is installed, you must enable a license for it. To do this select users from the Admin menu in Project Management. Select the user who will be running PSOP and check named user
in the Integration API row (see the screen shot below). Note that even
if you have a concurrent user license for the Integration API you must
select named user. This is
because version 4.1 of P3e only allows named users to use the
Integration API (see Primavera Knowledgebase article prim10779 for more
information). While a P3e license generally includes a free Integration
API license, you may need to contact your Primavera reseller to get a
new license which enables the API.

Installing for P3e version 5.0
- Ensure that the job service component is installed and running.
- PSOP requires the Integration API. This is automatically
installed with P3e, though users may manually install it to enable more
advanced features. If you did not install the Integration API manually,
you should select Pre-installed Connection as the connection method when PSOP is installed. Otherwise you should select Integration API
as the connection method. You will then be prompted for the path to the
Integration API and the Java virtual machine (JRE). The PSOP
installer will show you the default paths to these components;
if that is where you installed them, just confirm the information
presented.
- You must enable a license for the Integration API even if it was manually installed. To do
this select users from the Admin menu in Project Management. Select the user who will be running PSOP and check one of the boxes
in the Integration API row. If concurrent user is selected in the Project Management row, we recommend that you also select concurrent user in the Integration API row. Otherwise, we recommend that you select named user. See the screen shot above.
